It was a dancing, Club T, then it got changed to Snookey’s for all of about a week then it got changed to Cosmopol Clydebank. Can’t remember scaffolding, bloody whole place is falling apart. There are no redeeming features of Clydebank… well except me

Haha now now, Clydebank has many redeeming features… so I’m told. Has that place not just recently re-opened or something, I seem to recall a massive amount of scaffolding/construction work there.

I like some of the smaller venues in Glasgow. I was at Pivo Pivo the other day for my mates gig. I just get pissed off because I live arse end of nowhere in Clydebank.

One of the best places I find for having a local feel in Glasgow’s city center is the Butterfly & Pig, but of course its only local to people who live in the city, a la me.

It has a great homely atmosphere and a usual crowd of supporters who come out for open mic/accoustic seshes.

True with all these fancy arse technological advancements its much easier to get noticed but I’ve always felt that getting to play a few little local gigs gave you a bit more experience.

No one wants to go see a band who look like a rabbit caught in the headlights as soon as the stage lights come on. Every time I think about it I feel the need to release my delta rage! Back on point I find that if a band has had a few smaller gigs before they have to progress into the bigger stages it makes for a better night for all.

JBs in Dudley & Hare & Hounds in Kingsheath are the only local venues in Birmingham area now around. Somehow we’re fairing better, though it doesn’t look good by any means thinking of the number of places scrapped over the years.

I think that the whole way of bands becoming known has changed though? As in, it’d be rare(r) now for a local band to get spotted than before, but it’s easier for them to get their music known using t’interweb and going down that route…it’s a curious one but, as you said, fuckin annoying for those who enjoy smaller live acts.

It was a total rage on moment. I’m pissed off, I know loads of bands that have a bit of a following in their local area and they’ve played the local venues and because people can’t get off their arse and go to see them everyones fucked.

Local stuff seems to really be on it’s arse. In fact, I haven’t really seen a good local band live in quite a while and it’s because of venues like this going under. Ian’s found some good local stuff though and shall be reporting shortly.
