“I feel like Road Runner escaping from an anvil Wile E. Coyote has dragged to drop on me…”

Fall Out Boy Hiatus

Fall Out Boy hiatus; but oh dear, a last anvil awaits to be dropped...

I pretty much remember the exact moment, the exact words I said, even what I was eating (a hoisin duck wrap, if you’re interested…) when I abandoned Kerrang! radio and decided never, ever to listen to the crap it pumped out again….it was after hearing the ‘alright-for-a-bit-at-the-time-but-definitely-not-now’ Sugar, We’re Going Down for what seemed like literally the twentieth time that afternoon. And, you’ll be pleased to know, I haven’t looked back since. And, you’ll be just as pleased, I hope, as I was when I read tonight that Fall Out Boy are to go on indefinite hiatus: aptly, in an interview with Kerrang.

In true self-pitying martyrdom, Pete Wentz states “My biggest personal reason for taking a break is that I feel my name has become a hindrance for the band”. No; you’ve reached the low limit of your ability to keep impressionable teens bopping to the scene you’ve been desperately trying to lead for far too long, I feel.

“I want to fucking vomit when I read intros that say, ‘Pete Wentz: accidental internet poster boy.” Well Mr. Wentz, perhaps next time don’t spend so long on trying to become an ‘internet poster boy’?

I’m harsh; I’m; biased; and, excuse the vulgarity: I’m a cunt. I haven’t listened to Fall Out Boy in a good many years so perhaps it’s selfish of me to pass such harsh judgment. But, I feel like Road Runner escaping from an anvil Wile E. Coyote has dragged to drop on me. However, I haven’t quite got out the way in time….Fall Out Boy’s best of is out now….beep beep?
